Meet the farm
Bialas Farms is a family-owned farm in New York's Hudson Valley, focusing on providing a hyper-local food experience through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and a farm stand. They offer a variety of seasonal produce and culinary herbs, emphasizing fresh, locally grown food and cooking education for their customers. The farm has been operating for over 85 years, showcasing a commitment to sustainable farming and community engagement.
Bialas Farms has farmed the same 4th-generation land on Celery Avenue in New Hampton, NY, for 87 years. The family grows all produce sold on-site, emphasizing a deep connection to the land and community. Their fertile Black Dirt Region muck soil, renowned for producing some of the most flavorful vegetables in the country, supports a diverse seasonal harvest. Practices include CSA farm shares, biweekly distribution, and on-site events like herb-planting workshops.
Members can choose between Farmer’s Choice pre-packed shares (Large or Small) or Free Choice declining balance shares, which allow shopping directly from the farm stand. Biweekly shares run from mid-June to mid-October, delivering 8–12 items per box, while the 18-week CSA includes weekly produce. Recipes and tips are included in the weekly newsletter, and members receive seasonal items like heirloom tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, and sweet corn.
The indoor farm stand at 75 Celery Ave opens June 13, with pickup hours: Tuesdays 3–6:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 9 am–2 pm. The stand is wheelchair, stroller, and walker accessible with concrete floors and nearby parking. Rain or shine, guests can shop for homegrown produce, including specialty items like Bialas’ signature Brussels buds and Farmer Sonny’s famous carrots.
The farm hosts events like the Herb Planting Workshop, where guests plant custom herb planters with materials provided. Pickup days are consistent throughout the season, and members can reload declining balance cards as needed. Online ordering is available, with applications also accepted by mail. Reviews highlight consistent quality and a welcoming atmosphere, though some events have mixed feedback.
CSA shares range from $380 for biweekly boxes to $444–$670 for 18-week memberships. The Free Choice option starts at $100 per share. Members select pickup days during sign-up, and payment can be made online or by mail. The farm encourages direct engagement through social media and seasonal updates.
