Cloudland Farm has been a staple in the Emmons family since 1908. Located in the lush, green scenery of Pomfret, Vermont, it has continuously embraced sustainable farming practices to offer both cherished heritage and fresh, nutritious food.
Cloudland Farm takes pride in its ethical farming, prioritizing animal welfare and land stewardship. They raise Black Angus cattle on a mostly grass-fed diet, complemented by minimal organic grain to ensure a flavorful meat marbling. Avoiding growth hormones completely, antibiotics are only used in critical health situations. Their nutrient management plan maintains soil fertility using composted manure, lime, and wood ash.
The farm hosts a variety of animals including laying hens, Cornish-cross meat chickens, turkeys, and pastured pigs. They move their cattle and poultry frequently through fresh pastures to promote healthy growth and avoid overgrazing. Vegetables, herbs, and flowers are also grown, contributing to the farm’s diverse offerings.
Cloudland Farm provides a variety of beef cuts available at their farm market, including items like sausages and ground beef. Their beef undergoes careful processing, with each cut vacuum-sealed and frozen, ready for purchase. Bulk orders, such as sides or quarters of beef, are also available, although they are presently limiting new customer orders.
The farm store opens its doors on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 PM to 4 PM and welcomes reservations from those dining at their on-farm restaurant. The restaurant itself offers a unique dining experience, serving farm-to-table meals within a charming, historically constructed post-and-beam building. Diners experience a true connection to the food, enjoying their meals amidst the serene sights and sounds of the farm.
