History

Cheer Farms began in 1996 when Dave and Loraine purchased their first apple farm, building on Dave's early farming experience and Loraine's roots on a strawberry and tobacco farm. Over decades, the business grew from a small orchard to a full-scale market, with milestones including the 2013 move to 365 Main St. in Brighton, Ontario. The farm remains a family operation, now led by Dave, Loraine, and their daughters Kimberly and Jennifer.

Practices

Cheer Farms combines traditional farming with community engagement:

• Seasonal produce farming (apples, strawberries, pumpkins, corn, and more)
• Roadside market with direct sales of fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods
• Bakery operations using in-house produce for pies, quiches, and pastries
• Festival participation (Apple Fest, local events)
• Collaborations with other Ontario farmers for specialty items

Offerings

The farm provides:

• Produce: Apples, asparagus, greenhouse peppers, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, squash, berries, and more (seasonal)
• Bakery: Pies (coconut cream, apple, peach, pumpkin), quiches, cookies, and custom orders (48-hour lead time required)
• Frozen meals and jams/jellies made with fresh produce
• Gift baskets and custom party desserts

Visiting

Cheer Farms is open 7 days a week at 365 Main St., Brighton, Ontario, from 9am–5pm. The market features a bakery kitchen, walk-in cooler, and a welcoming atmosphere with fresh-baked smells. Special events like Apple Fest in September highlight local agriculture and family traditions.

Buying

Customers can shop in-person or use the online bakery order form for pies, quiches, and custom desserts. Orders require 48 hours notice. The farm also sells through local farmers' markets and partners with other Ontario growers for specialty items not produced on-site.
