Established in 2010, Binghamton Urban Farm operates on 2.25 acres in Binghamton’s heart, producing over 7,000 lbs of food yearly. The farm prioritizes community engagement, employing 25 young people annually through its Grow Binghamton Youth Program. It partners with local farms and offers educational resources to foster food literacy.
The farm uses sustainable, organic growing methods, though it is not certified organic due to resource constraints. It emphasizes community composting, with 9 neighborhood drop-off sites converting food waste into soil. Workshops on gardening, food preservation, and composting are regularly held at community gardens across the area.
Join a weekly produce box (June–October) featuring seasonal vegetables from local farms within 60 miles. Binghamton Urban Farm’s share includes fruit twice monthly, while other partner farms may not guarantee fruit. Members receive recipe guides, storage tips, and a welcome binder with nutritional information.
Residents can grow their own vegetables in neighborhood gardens, supported by shared resources and educational programs. These spaces promote recreation, neighborhood connection, and hands-on learning.
Free composting and late-season planting workshops are available at multiple community gardens. Recipes and cooking guides help members use their produce creatively, with examples like sweet potato hash and daikon-carrot salad.

Eligible members facing health or transportation barriers can request home delivery during sign-up. Requests are reviewed on a first-come basis, with limited availability.
