Meet the farm
The Reiss family owns 4R Farm near Weskan, Kansas, raising heritage breed pork with a focus on quality and tradition. Dakota and Kinzie grew up with livestock, met through scholarships, and took over the family farm in 2013. They expanded to include goats in 2019 and started selling directly to neighbors in 2021, offering a range of pork products from their farm. Their pigs are raised on dirt with a specialized diet, and they partner with local processors to deliver high-quality meat to customers.
The Reiss family has deep roots in agriculture. Dakota and Kinzie grew up with livestock—Dakota on the same farm where 4R Farm now operates, and Kinzie in central Indiana. They met through livestock judging scholarships at Butler Community College and Kansas State University, where Dakota earned a degree in animal science and Kinzie in agricultural education. In 2013, Dakota returned to take over the family farm, and Kinzie joined after their 2015 marriage. The farmhouse they live in was built by Dakota’s great-grandfather, Ted Reiss, and the original cattle brand, bar 4 R, inspired the farm’s name.
4R Farm prioritizes heritage breed pigs, chosen for their genetics and raised on dirt with a specialized diet. The farm works with local processors to ensure quality from farm to table. They expanded their operations in 2019 by adding a herd of goats. Direct-to-consumer sales began in 2021, initially selling pigs to 4-H and FFA members, and later transitioning to selling directly to neighbors. The Reiss family emphasizes sustainability, education, and community, with a focus on creating high-quality pork that reflects their family’s agricultural heritage.
4R Farm offers a variety of pork products, including Apple Cinnamon Bacon, Baby Back Ribs, Blue Ribbon Bacon, Brats, Bulk Sausage, Half Hog, Pork Burgers, Pork Chops, Pork Cutlets, Pork Summer Sausage, and Pork Tenderloin Roast. Prices range from $10 to $400, with some items like the Half Hog and Whole Hog selling out quickly. Customers can purchase through the farm’s website or direct sales via email list.
While the farm is not open for general visits, customers can connect with the Reiss family through their website or email list to learn more about their products and purchase directly.
