Meet the farm
Chicago Lights Urban Farm has served Chicago’s community since 1983, providing food, clothing, and case management to over 1,300 adults annually. Rooted in compassion, they offer supplemental groceries, seasonal clothing, and personalized support to help people achieve stability. Their programs include a food pantry, clothing shop, volunteer opportunities, and outreach to those experiencing homelessness.
Chicago Lights Urban Farm was founded in 1983 by former Fourth Presbyterian Church pastor Dr. Elam Davies. The organization has since served ‘the least, the lost, and the lonely’ through programs that address basic needs and empower individuals toward self-sufficiency. Each year, more than 1,300 adults connect with their services for food, clothing, case management, and enrichment programming.
The Food Pantry provides supplemental groceries, including dairy, eggs, meat, fresh produce, and nonperishable items. Appointments are strongly encouraged, and clients can access resources Tuesday–Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago.
The Clothing Shop offers new and gently used seasonal clothing, shoes, coats, undergarments, and accessories. Items range from warm winter coats to professional attire for job interviews. Appointments are available on the same schedule as the Food Pantry.
Personalized case management supports adults in achieving individual goals. Services include help with ID documents, budgeting, resume building, health and legal referrals, and housing consultations. Stable Housing Case Managers assist with securing long-term housing solutions.
Through Good Neighbors Field Outreach, teams deliver essential items and connect with individuals experiencing homelessness. Outreach occurs Tuesday–Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Near North neighborhood.
Appointments for the Food Pantry and Clothing Shop are available Tuesday–Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Drop-in resources, including clothing, toiletries, and housing consultations, are also available during these hours. Contact 312.640.2571 to schedule an appointment or learn more about eligibility.
Chicago Lights welcomes in-kind donations of men’s and women’s clothing, athletic shoes, backpacks, and other essential items. Donations must be clean and in good condition and can be dropped off at the Social Service Center or shipped to 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago, IL 60611.
