Cultivate Hope Urban Farm, in the heart of Cedar Rapids' Northwest neighborhood, stands as Iowa’s first urban farm aimed at combating food scarcity in designated food desert areas. The farm not only provides a steady local source of fresh produce but also serves as an integral community gathering space focused on sustainability and healthy living.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

The farm’s CSA program is a cornerstone in their mission to cultivate a health-conscious community. Members receive a subscription of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs for 20 weeks, from May to October. This initiative supports both the Urban Farm’s mission and the nutritional needs of its community.

Educational Initiatives

Education is at the heart of Cultivate Hope Urban Farm’s activities. With a diverse range of classes and workshops, the farm extends learning opportunities to both students and adults, emphasizing food education, youth development, and lifelong learning. Weekly Farm Stand Markets provide an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown food and allow CSA members to collect their shares. Monthly Community Building Potlucks and the Cultivate Community Market, with its mix of music, food, and art activities, also encourage local participation.

Cultivate Hope Urban Farm champions sustainable agriculture by practicing chemical-free farming — growing all their produce without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Catering and Additional Services

In collaboration with Groundswell Cafe, the farm provides catering services for various occasions. With a flexible menu and various catering options, Groundswell assists with both on-site and off-site events, ensuring a seamless service experience. Additionally, the Cafe, located at 201 Third Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, offers delightful meals and a cozy gathering space.
