Meet the farm
Daufuskie Community Farm is a thriving 501(c)3 nonprofit nestled on the unique Daufuskie Island. Launched by 'Miss Pat' in 2010 on a dream and a dollar, this farm transforms the island's landscape through its sustainable, beyond-organic practices. Known for its strong community ties, Daufuskie Community Farm offers farm memberships that include garden access, fresh farm produce, and more. Over the years, it has received considerable community backing, bolstering its mission of promoting resource sustainability.
Founded by 'Miss Pat' in 2010, Daufuskie Community Farm started from humble beginnings—powered by just a dollar and a dream. Over the years, community members rallied together, transforming a heavily wooded lot into an 8-acre farm complete with 20 structures, all built using volunteer labor and timber milled from the land.
Daufuskie Community Farm embraces sustainable, beyond organic practices. They grow and harvest their products using ethically grown US cotton and OEKO-TEX-certified dyes. Their materials are responsibly sourced and eco-friendly, emphasizing longevity, with UV protective laminate and premium water-resistant vinyl used in many products.
The farm is known for its garden membership perks, which offer access to trim fresh herbs and seasonal veggies, purchase farm-fresh, free-range eggs, and VIP farm access. Products also include diverse merchandise like printed tees and hoodies made from 100% ring-spun cotton, and eco-friendly printed stickers and accessories.
The farm is a vital resource for the Daufuskie Island community, benefiting locals by providing educational classes, workshops, and farm tours. It operates through the generous donations and volunteer efforts of the community, evidenced by substantial support including a $200,000 donation from an 'angel benefactor.'
Becoming a member of Daufuskie Community Farm feels like joining a family, with unique benefits introduced annually. Membership includes access to the farm's lumber and the opportunity to explore the farm freely without needing a tour.
Daufuskie Community Farm continues to draw attention for its role as both a community asset and a sustainable agricultural example. By supporting the farm, contributors not only back a nonprofit initiative but also cherish the island's iconic landmark.
