Bennett Orchards has farmed the same land since 1867, offering a sixth-generation pick-your-own experience for blueberries, peaches, and nectarines. Practices

The orchard emphasizes sustainable, family-rooted farming:

• Pick-Your-Own (PYO): Visitors can harvest blueberries, peaches, and nectarines directly from the farm.
• Farmers Markets: Fresh fruit is sold daily at eight coastal markets in Delaware and Maryland, selected for peak ripeness.
• Pollenless Sunflowers: Introduced in Summer 2025, these flowers are available for picking by the bouquet.
• Blueberry Production: Five heirloom and productive Northern Highbush varieties are grown, including Duke, Draper, TopShelf, BlueRay, and BlueCrop.
• Peach & Nectarine Care: Detailed guides on selecting ripe fruit, softening, and storing tree-ripened peaches are available online.

History

The Bennett family has shaped Delmarva’s farming legacy: Jim Bennett pioneered Delaware’s first successful PYO peach orchard in the 1980s, while Hail Bennett launched a groundbreaking blueberry enterprise in 2011. The farm is listed as a Delaware ‘Century Farm,’ reflecting generations of commitment to quality produce and community connection.
