Meet the farm
Conforti Family Farm is a family-run farm that focuses on providing high-quality, fresh produce and farm products to customers. They offer a variety of items including eggs, chicken, and seasonal produce like tomatoes and hot peppers. The farm emphasizes a personal connection with customers and a commitment to sustainable farming practices.
Conforti Family Farm is steeped in history, tracing its roots back to 1962 when Ralph and Ida Conforti laid its foundation in South Beaver Township, just outside of Darlington, PA. After 30 years of dormancy, the farm was revived in 2015 by the Conforti family through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. This initiative not only rekindled the farm's operations but also nurtured a close-knit community centered around the appreciation of fresh, sustainably grown food.
Dedicated to sustainable and organic practices, Conforti Family Farm avoids synthetic pesticides, utilizing non-spray and non-certified organic techniques. They emphasize healthy soil through the use of companion planting, rotational planting, compost, and vermiculture. For pest management, the farm relies on natural methods, believing that robust soil yields resilient plants less susceptible to diseases and infestations.
For their livestock, the farm embraces a philosophy of providing a natural lifestyle. Chickens are free range and fed a non-GMO diet, while pastured turkeys and chickens benefit from foraging and fresh water, eschewing antibiotics for a natural upbringing. This commitment to animal welfare ensures superior quality meat products.
Conforti Family Farm's CSA program, running for 16 weeks from June through October or November, offers members a vibrant array of organic produce each week. Small shares are perfect for 2–3 people, while large shares accommodate 3–5, ensuring each basket is brimming with seasonal bounty.
Beyond produce, they offer farm-raised chickens and turkeys, renowned for their tender, succulent meat. Free-range eggs, golden ghost pepper flakes, and other farm-fresh items are available at their farm store.
