Meet the farm
Blue Ledge Farm is a family-owned goat dairy and cheese-making operation focused on sustainable farming practices. They offer a variety of artisanal goat's milk cheeses, emphasizing quality and respect for the land, animals, and local community. Additionally, they provide farm stays for visitors looking to experience farm life.
Blue Ledge Farm is a family-owned artisanal cheese farm located in Salisbury, Vermont, celebrated for its dedication to high-quality cheese production and respect for the environment, animals, and community. Owned and operated by Greg and Hannah, who began their journey in Florence, Italy, the farm embodies a dream of creating exceptional products while being good stewards of the land.
The vision for Blue Ledge Farm took shape in Florence, Italy, where co-founders Greg and Hannah met while studying European art and culture. They transformed this inspiration into a working Vermont farm, now home to 125 goats whose milk contributes to their extensive cheese line.
Blue Ledge Farm offers eleven types of cheese, including their renowned chèvre. The chèvre varieties are known for their fresh, creamy texture and include plain, herb crusted, and pepper crusted options, all hand-ladeled to ensure light consistency. Other offerings feature Maple Chèvre, mingling savory goat cheese with Vermont Maple Syrup, and the Moosalamoo with Dill, a Cheddar Jack style cheese.
Their offerings extend to notable aged cheeses like Crottina, pivotal in earning national recognition, and specialty selections such as Camembrie—an Ayrshire cow's milk blend of Camembert and Brie. Each cheese reflects their passion for using quality ingredients, respect for traditional methods, and innovation in flavor.
Blue Ledge Farm maintains sustainable practices by allowing goats to graze and forage, composting manure, and utilizing an underground aging facility. Solar panels provide electricity, and a clean-burning bio-mass furnace heats the facilities in an eco-friendly way.
The farm operates a self-serve farmstand open daily from April to December, welcoming visitors to purchase cheese directly. Blue Ledge Farm also distributes its cheeses throughout the Northeast and offers shipping options to ensure fresh delivery with carefully managed insulated packages.
Beyond cheese production, Blue Ledge Farm actively engages with the community, emphasizing local collaboration and offering farm stays in a cozy cottage for a unique Vermont experience.
The farm is currently seeking to fill positions such as Sales and Packaging Assistant and Cheesemaker, underscoring its growth and commitment to excellence in every facet of the operation.
