In the spring of 2019, the Calhoun family, including their children Joe, Katie, and Dani, moved to the farm. Initially, they began with chickens and goats and quickly expanded to include more chickens and pigs. Inspired by a trip to Joel Salatin's Polyface Farm, this family farm is a testament to their journey and passion for quality local food.

Basswood Creek Farms champions sustainable farming with a special focus on pasture-raised practices. Their approach includes heritage breed meats, allowing hens to graze on new grass daily, and ready-to-lay pullets raised without the costs and maintenance of brooding.
