Backlund Acres operates through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, offering members weekly vegetable shares from June to October. They prioritize organic farming methods, using non-GMO grains for animal feed and partnering with local farms for pasture-raised poultry. The farm employs sustainable practices, including perennial agriculture systems, and provides options for U-Pick harvests, drop-site deliveries, and worker-share programs where members contribute labor for free produce.

Offerings

Members can choose between standard ($540) or deluxe ($675) CSA shares, with deliveries starting in June and ending in October. The standard share is ideal for smaller families, while the deluxe share caters to larger households or avid cooks. Add-ons include pasture-raised chicken (whole or cut), eggs from pasture-raised hens, and fall CSA extensions with seasonal vegetables like cabbage, beets, and storage crops. The farm store, open May 21–October 10, sells organic vegetables, flowers, eggs, meat, and locally sourced goods, with membership perks like 5% discounts and access to U-Pick items.

Visiting & Events

The farm store is open Fridays 11 AM–4 PM and Saturdays 8 AM–12 PM, offering pick-your-own produce and limited-quantity items. U-Pick CSA members can select vegetables directly from the fields during designated hours. Seasonal events include plant sales in May, DIY flower workshops, and end-of-season gleaning events. Farm store memberships provide access to these events and free unsellable vegetable tables.

How to Buy

CSA memberships and farm store memberships can be signed up for online. Weekly deliveries are available via home delivery or drop-site locations (with at least five members required for a drop site). U-Pick members can visit the farm Fridays or Saturdays to pack their own cooler bags. Gift cards are available for purchase, redeemable for meat, vegetables, or CSA deposits. All deliveries and pickups follow a seasonal schedule, with specific dates and times listed on the farm’s website.
