History

Avery's Branch Farms began in 2007 as a family venture, founded by Tim and his wife after his retirement from bridge-building. The farm serves as a first-generation operation dedicated to providing healthy, life-giving food to the Virginia community. The family, married since 1984 and parents to six children, continues to prioritize raising hard-working young adults through their agricultural work.

Practices

The farm operates a legal cowshare program called 'cowboarding,' allowing customers to purchase shares in their Jersey cows for weekly raw milk deliveries. Practices include:

• Raw milk sales through a 100% legal cowboarding model
• Grass-fed beef and pasture-raised eggs and pork
• Sustainable agriculture and organic farming principles
• Direct-to-consumer sales with no middlemen
• Pastoral agriculture focused on natural grazing practices

Offerings

Avery's Branch Farms provides:

• Raw milk (full and half shares available)
• Grass-fed beef
• Pasture-raised pork
• Pasture-raised eggs (through their son's venture, Authenticity Farms)
• Raw dairy products like butter and yogurt for active cow-boarders

Pickup and Delivery

Customers pay a $15.17 monthly fee for milk delivery to designated drop sites. Milk is transported in recyclable plastic dairy jugs (#2 high density, quality grade) at an additional $3.25 per month. Pickup locations are available, but the farm is not responsible for orders after delivery.

Location and Access

The farm encourages customers to collect products at pickup locations. While the farm handles delivery to drop sites, it has no control over what happens to orders after delivery. All products are available to residents in Virginia through this system.
