Beautiful barn. Very clean and comfortable. Opted to have dinner cooked by the host—delicious and great conversation. Host was friendly and really good with kids. They got to bottle feed goats and take a farm tour. Can’t say enough good things about our stay!

10 of us participated in a sausage making class led by John and Beth. 4 different sausages. Grinding the meats, adding spices, stuffing into pig intestines and cutting into individual sausage links. It was great fun and educational. Both John and Beth are a wealth of knowledge on sustainable agricultural methods. I highly recommend any of their events. Their farm is just a couple of miles west of Lovilla, Iowa.

Our wine group (three couples) attended a sausage making class at Whippoorwill Creek Farm. Let me just say, that Winston Churchill got it wrong. It is great fun watching sausage being made and learning so much about the process through a hands-on education. Also picked up an informative and engaging book by Beth Hoffman (one of the owners of WCF) called Bet The Farm about the dollars and sense of growing food in America. This book made me better informed about the state of American agriculture and the transformational life events of leaving the big city to join her husband on his family's farm. Worth the read.

We randomly heard about this farm-to-table experience and thought we’d try it out. Learning about regenerative farming was way more interesting than I thought! Beth’s book is fascinating and the food is amazing. John is a former chef in San Francisco. Now we are regulars for classes and dinners. It’s our main “date night” activity. The AirBnB is super cute, too. We also love the ducks and chickens and cows and goats. And dogs and cats. Highly recommend!

My husband and I have done 2 private events with friends and both have been fantastic! Beth and John are fun and interesting hosts. The food was delicious and you can purchase meat and produce to practice what you've learned at home! We can't wait to try the Goat class.

My wife and I attended a "corn vs. grass-fed beef" event at Whippoorwill Creek Farm in mid-Oct. 2024. Beth and John's hospitality was equaled only by their dedication to sharing experience and insights from running a sustainable Iowa farm without reliance on chemicals, mono crops or government subsidies. Highly recommend this business for organic produce, meat and hosted edutainment activities.

I've been to two classes at Whippoorwill Farm: sausage-making and pasta-making. Both were well worth the drive from WDM (1h 17m), the cost, the effort and my subsequent very happy tastebuds, both for a meal and wine with other friendly and fun classmates, and later at home with the product I got to take home. Educational, fun and YUMMY!

I enjoyed the ability to discuss my ideas with Beth and got a lot of work done on my project. It was great to be able to wander around the farm with a dog escort as well to clear my head!
