Wayland's Meat Market

Went there for the chicken Boudin, pork Boudin and bratwurst. While they are good they are nowhere near as good as Taylor's sausage in Oakland.

This is my second time coming here and I loooove it. It's clean. No flies. They are very patient. The customer service is top tier. I don't get any bad vibes like I have from other meat markets. I will be back. Definitely recommend.

Finally went there for the first time today and bought some lamb shoulder chops. They were some of the best lamb chops I’ve ever had. Very fresh and the people were nice. They have a lot of meat and I was happy to give it a try. Very satisfied and we’ll go back.

I'll be honest, I've never been here myself. I can't speak to their products, merely to their character as compassionate human beings. My wife was traveling for work and needed to keep some important medication at a certain temperature. She found herself without a reliable refrigerator or thermometer. Desperate to salvage the medication, she sought help from nearby businesses. Wayland's Meat Market stepped up and helped her in her time of need, offering her one of their thermometers to keep. I can't thank them enough for this generosity. They really saved the day. I expect that that sort of care is also put toward their products, customers and community. So, drop by if you're in the neighborhood and tell them Collin says "thanks for the thermometer"!

Oakland's hidden gem! Nicest people! 1st impression. Super clean, deli displays are so clean and clear it looks like you're in a museum. Everything looked really fresh and tasty! I'll be back to buy again for sure!

When in the Oakland Bay Area, Wayland Meats is the Market for all your fresh Meats and groceries. As soon as I walked in, I was impressed with the clean Store and brightness. The meat display Fridge is fully stocked from various sausages to Beef cuts, Pork, even Seafood. The customer service is great. The owners treat everyone with respect and kindness. Parking on the other hand is a challenge in this area especially if you’re disabled or limited ability, I circle around the block maybe once on occasion. The hours have changed since pandemic, so get there before 5:30pm. I rate Wayland’s as a Quality Meat Market.

Have not been in this market for about 25 years or better, had been thinking about rabbit and alligator since last year. Fellow co-workers have been talking about ordering from Houston or Louisiana for our fix. After leaving the Greek Festival Saturday I turned left off of MacArthur onto Fruitvale and noticed the signs on the window and immediately stopped ran in and bought a couple rabbits. Soon as I got home I called a few of the fellas and planned on barbecuing Monday, however I couldn’t wait, Sunday thawed then got my crock pot chopped my rabbit added fresh herbs and potatoes onion let simmer for seven hours. GOOD LORD

This was horrible. I only needed steaks and a baguette for dinner and decided to go local: meat at Wayland’s and a baguette from La ferine. We got home and got the meat ready to grill. It smelled horribly. I mean nasty. I didn’t mention it to my spouse who was grilling because I thought it was just me. Then we started eating and we both gagged. It was bad tenderloin! We were not around to return it the next day when they opened at 11 so we tossed it. $32 in tenderloin inedible. Do not go to this butcher market for beef. Disgusting

These guys are terrific. Great for beet and pork especially, though they also sell a lot of more exotic stuff-- and alligator and goat, among some others. They also have a deli counter. The sandwiches are easily among the best lunch deals in the neighborhood.

I'm 38 years old and the same 2 people have been running this place for as long as I can remember.theve always been a great staple of the Dimond district.they started doing sandwiches like 20 years ago and they have always been the best deal in town. loaded with meat,and for the best price.very clean. over all the easiest 5 star rating I've ever gave on google

Awesome “mom n pop” establishment. Prompt service, excellent products (esp. steaks and sausages), nice proprietors and a truly local fixture. I was in the neighborhood for about a year and after I discovered this place I returned regularly.

This is a store for meat eaters! Next time you're in Oakland, and you have a hankering to eat alligator, goat, rabbit, frog legs, venison, Hog head cheese or pork belly--this is a great place check-out. I got some Chicken Boudin Sausage that they made fresh. It was delicious, and reasonably priced. Besides unusual meats, they carry the regular types that supermarkets carry. They alsipo have lower prices for bulk buying.. However, I didn't notice organic meats or beef that is finished with grass instead of grain (that is my preference). That is why this isn't a place that I would usually shop. But the next time I want fresh Boudin Sausage or if I want something that is not available at a regular market--like alligator--I will definitely remember to go here!

Small meat market, but alot to choose from. Employees very personable and helpful. All meat in cases are very fresh. This is the first time, I have used them, cooked pork chops for dinner excellent quality. Will be back

I have been to Wayland's several times. I tested them on beef steak and pork cuts. Although they can provide whole hog (20-70 lbs), the overall outcome was negative. The beef steaks were particularly lousy. Lower that supermarket choice beef, not even as good as "select" at Lucky's. There was no availability of beef plate ribs (different from chuck ribs). This place is a THUMBS DOWN.

Haven't been there in awhile,but their meats are very fresh, I'd drive from Vallejo to get my hog head cheese since Vallejo has no spicy hog head cheese..

Always friendly and knowledgeable service. They custom course grind top round for my chili and carry full packer brisket for the smoker.

I've been goin there when it was diamond meats Carol and Jim Wonderful people now the name changed products the same love this place I leave in Suisun so I have to bring a cooler when I shop. Worth it.
