Sunrise Meats is a specialty butcher shop located in Port Angeles, WA, primarily focused on custom butchery and processing services for various meats, including beef, elk, and deer. They also offer a range of smoked products, particularly smoked salmon, jerky, and sausages. The business caters to both local customers and those looking to have meat shipped across the U.S.
I bring salmon here to be smoked, and they do a great job. They have several types of cure and levels of smoke. They can also vacuum pack if desired.
Really impressive experience. The meat all smells really fresh. This place is like the butcher shops of my childhood in France.
We have used sunrise for years today we walked away with our meat and will never use them again. Customer service was awful. They treated my husband poorly we do a deer sometimes an elk and a cow there almost every year. The last few years we haven't gotten all our meat back
Great Jerky, Smoked Salmon sausage. Everything is good .
They make delicious candy salmon and the beef sticks are fresh.
Everything Ive ever bought here, going back 20-30 years, was top shelf
Best jerky ever! Definitely coming back for more before we leave!
We have used Sunrise to process our meat for a few years now. This last time there was nothing but problems. Customers didn't get cuts thst were listed on their sheets, the burger had a off taste and smell, steaks that were inedible. There seems to be a large turn over of staff here and the quality of work has gone down. We put a lot of time and money into raising good, healthy and happy animals and people pay a lot of money for it, it is very frustrating and disappointing to have the end product ruined at the cutters. We will be going elsewhere from now on.
We get our cows that we buy processed here and usually they are good but we ordered 5 pounds of our meat that was supposed to be turned into jerky and never received it. I guess they kept it and sold it. I won’t be getting our cow processed here again. Also the meat was aged this time and it must have aged in warmer conditions because a lot of the meat is very off tasting. Huge disappointment for the amount of money they charge
Smoked fish, sausage oysters , and pepperoni It's a specialty butcher shop in Port Angeles Wa.
a little dissapointing, never shopped her before. We purchased some beef fat to blend with elk meat that we were processing 3 days ago. It was kept refrigerated the whole time, it's completely moldy with a strong odor. We have purchased beef fat before from other butchers and its gone well, this how ever was unfortunate. Thankfully it was only $1 per pound.
Great smoked salmon and Jerky. I have been a customer for over 20 years. They will send it all over the US. Awesome
Thanks to Matthew for helping me with my order and answering all my questions about their various smoked fish products. I wanted to stock up and take enough home to share with family and friends in TX. Matthew provided me with an extra bag and ice packs to keep everything cold for the 9 hours it would take to make the journey home. Everything was still cold when Opened my suitcase at home. The Salmon was delicious as always. Thanks for all your help. See you again in a few months during my next trip.
Steve has always treated us well, so I was surprised to not be working with him this time around. Brian was nice and knowledgeable. I'm sure the more often my family works with him the better relationship we will build. Overall, great prices and amazing service. 👏 …
This is in regard to their custom butchery services, not any other part of the business. We were quoted one price and ended up being charged double. We paid, unhappily, but really this was a failure in communication on their part, and they did nothing to make it right. We ended up slaughtering an extra animal to meet the minimum costs, all to be charged double anyway. Also, the packages we received were poorly labeled, just a few stamps rather than any indication of what part of the animal it came from. None of the packages were weighed, and we're kind of doubtful we got everything back. I've spoken to a few other locals and this is apparently a common occurrence with Sunrise - missing part of your order when you get it back. Finally, the butchering wasn't that good, especially considering the price we paid. A lot of the cuts are sloppy, in that they required additional processing to be ready for cooking. Ribs with extra flaps of other meat still attached, etc. Definitely not impressed, feeling ripped off and will not be going back. I went back in to discuss some of this with the owner and he wasn't helpful or apologetic. We will be driving far out of the way to process the rest of our animals, and would not recommend Sunrise to anyone.
I visited the Olympic Peninsula and Port Angeles recently with my sister. While we were there, she wanted to try smoked salmon. I heard of Sunrise Meats through Riqui, the woman who owned the house where we stayed in Port Angeles. When I walked into Sunrise, I was very hesitant about buying the salmon due to past experience where I bought smoked salmon from the local grocery store (it was gross). Lucky for me and for Sunrise Meats, there was another customer there who raved about the smoked salmon and recommended which ones to try. I bought enough for me and my sister to eat for 3 nights and never regretted it! When I opened the first package and took the first bite, I was hooked! It was really good. The other customer at Sunrise told me there was wet vs. dry varieties of the smoked salmon. I bought 2 wet and one dry. The dry wasn't as good. I've been craving it ever since and recently bought some from Trader Joe's. It was terrible and I had to throw it out! Sunshine Meats has the smoked salmon process down to a T. I was told they buy freshly caught salmon from local fisherman. You can definitely tell! It's really good stuff!! In fact, I'm checking to see how much it will cost to have some shipped to my house in the midwest.
Just had their smoked king. Nice, really nice. Real smoke, not over salted or sugared, think it is alder but they might have mixed some cherry in there? Not cold smoked but certainly not hot smoked (smoked too hot for too long), just enough to start to render some of the fat. That type of talent is not common Now, I need to see what else I can get.
Great meat market! Smoked salmon was SO delicious! Great variety of meats to choose from - we stocked our freezer for the next couple of months! Quality is the best!
the very best smoked salmon ever! great jerky, pepperoni and brawts! I can't believe they are not franchised throughout USA. This is what custom meat products should be. This meat shop is worth the drive to Port Angeles!
Incredible salmon belly jerky. I visited out of town years ago and still dream of it. Need to get it shipped
