Located in Willow Spring, NC, Hilltop Farms stands as Wake County's first and only USDA Certified Organic Produce Farm. With a rich history of over 24 years, this farm offers a remarkable variety of over 40 types of fruits, vegetables, and small grains.
Hilltop Farms excels in certified organic farming practices, ensuring that their produce meets high standards for health and sustainability. They operate a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, empowering local families to partake in the harvest while supporting regional agriculture. Additionally, the farm maintains a 96-foot hydroponic greenhouse for year-round cultivation of lettuces, greens, and herbs, ensuring fresh produce even outside traditional growing seasons.
The farm serves a broad community, from supplying over 100 local families through their CSA to selling at farmers markets and partnering with restaurants and stores. Their CSA memberships provide a weekly or bi-weekly share of fresh produce during the growing season. Summer memberships offer 10 weekly boxes, packed with $25 worth of organic produce, for a total cost of $335.
Hilltop Farms operates several CSA drop-off sites to serve their community better. These sites are conveniently located in Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs, North Carolina, ensuring local customers can easily access their fresh, organic produce.
Over two decades of farming have offered Hilltop Farms significant insight into cultivating high-yield, reliable crops. However, they also acknowledge the potential impact of natural conditions such as weather fluctuations, pests, and droughts on their harvest volumes. Despite these challenges, their commitment to organic farming and community support continues to thrive.
