First time customer today. Great selection of meats. I love the packaging that makes it freezer ready. The pricing was really good and was worth the drive. The kid working the counter was really friendly. Glad we discovered this place, will definitely return!
The farmer I bought the cow from took it to this butcher shop to be butchered. I got a call from him and it was Josh on the phone asking me how I wanted the cow butchered. I didn’t understand some of the options I had since I hadn’t purchased a whole cow like this and would he explain the process but he didn’t he just kept barking at me about how many steaks I wanted in a package when honestly I just didn’t know what the options were. Had he said you can do 2, 4, 6, etc I would have understood but he was just flat rude. I was never told when the cow would be ready. I got a call from them on 4/15 saying my cow would be ready the next morning. I said I am sorry but I have to go out of town for a few days (my 78 year old mother was having surgery the next day and I had planned to stay through Wednesday to assist her with anything she needed) He then tells me he is going to charge if its there more than 2 days so yeah I said screw it charge me what you want and ill be there later. I left my mothers early on Wednesday 4/17 to go pick up the cow. When I walked in their retail shop it had a bad smell to it. The paper they gave me showed 447 but I was charged 468 on my credit card and nobody told me they would charge a fee to run the credit card but oh well. I had to wait almost 20 minutes before they brought out the meat which all the steaks were brought out in rusty wire bins. I noticed some of the vacuum seals were broke but whatever I can use those first. I tried to quickly just load it all so I could get home and put it all away. Upon putting it away I noticed that I had 1 brisket and my steaks were not 2 inches like I requested. I called the farmer to get his take on it and he checked his steaks he got and they were also measuring 1 inch instead of the 1.5 inches he requested. I called and spoke to the lady there that day and she said the owner would make it right and to call back the next day. I did and the guy was still rude to me even though he said he is never rude to anyone. He didn’t answer my question as to why I had 2 tongues and 1 brisket and what happened to my other one. He tried to tell me the vacuum sealer compressed the steaks to 1 inch but they were cut at 2 inches which is odd to me. If I asked for mine to be cut to 2 inches and the farmer 1.5 inches how did the machine compress mine more than the farmers. So when I challenged him on it Josh asked if I was a butcher and well yeah conversation went down hill after that. He told me never to come back and I said lots of rude things because I was pretty upset this guy basically didn’t give me all my cow back and messed up what I did get. Don’t use this place. I am challenging the charge on my card telling my credit card company I would be willing to pay half of the cost since I do have loads of hamburger but since I am missing a brisket and more than half of all the steaks were cut wrong. I paid 1661 for this cow only to have the butcher shop completely mess it all up. I have instructed that farmer to never take anything I purchase from him to this location again. Adding 2 pictures to this… 1 showing way more than 2 steaks in a package and all only 1 inch but the package isn’t even vacuum sealed so… wonder how it compressed down the steak. I would love to post a picture of my missing in action brisket I was not given but guess the owner kept that or gave it away to someone else. Update: Adding 2 pics showing bag of ribeye steaks 4 in a package not 2 as requested and all 4 cut to 1 inch after being thawed and shows no signs of compression as there would be if the vaccine sealer did it. Oh and this was one I had to use first since the seal was broken when I picked it up. Update 2: Seems today as I was looking for some meat to cook I found some steaks labeled for another customer (Jim something). Seems with all the other indescripencies I have some meat that wasn't mine. Imagine that!
We went to get Ribeyes for dinner tonight and left with steaks, slider burgers and lunch. I had one of their cooked pork chops that was marinated in their own personal seasoning. OMGosh. The best chop I have ever had! I will definitely be back for more. They sliced the steak to order. They are so helpful, friendly and family oriented. So glad we made the trip.
Great guys to work with. They will walk you through the process and do a fantastic job with processing and packaging, they vacuum seal all cuts. Great place for deer processing as well and make some great snack sticks and summer sausage.
Accommodating and great to work with. We had 6 hogs processed and had 3 sold to friends. The guys packaged each hog according to how each family wanted it and dealt with all our picky requests! They took time to answer all my newbie questions and made the whole process smooth for us from unloading to picking up. The shop also always smells clean! Friends have all commented on their bacon being the best they’ve ever had! Enjoying steak size pork chops this evening!! Highly recommend! Anyone leaving one star reviews because THEY didn’t pick their meat up on time isn’t on the business, it’s on them. I’m not sure if we ever discussed during drop off a storage fee or not, but common sense says if they have to store your meat for you after it’s processed for more than a day or two their should be a fee. We had a great experience and will absolutely do business with them again!
The customer service and meat quality are wonderful. The new owner is doing a great job and cares about his products being delivered and his customers. I have had poultry and venison processed here. I recieved back some of the best venison I have ever ate with a very quick turn around time frame. I will continue to drive an hour away to have all my livestock processed here. Glad to find someone who is USDA approved, provides excellent service, quality processing and handles all types of livestock.
I’ve purchased two sides of beef and one hog and have had excellent meat from all 3 experiences. I have also used them for special bulk purchases of sausage, andouille sausage for a shrimp boil, and seasoning that I used to buy at big box stores but Loretto Butcher Shop’s hasn’t set in the shelf for years. I’ve purchased steaks for a cookout which were fresh and guests noticed the flavor and freshness was great compared to chain stores. One aspect that I like is the butcher shop isn’t injecting God knows what to keep there products fresh! It’s 100% fresh meat NOTHING else! I will continue to make the short and enjoyable country ride regularly!
A friend of mine and I each had a hog processed at this shop. There were many bad reviews from a year ago but the most recent were more favorable so we took a chance considering the shop is under new ownership. Could not ask for better service! My hog was 400 lbs., after processing we got back 270 lbs. which is pretty close to the 70% you should expect. As some of you may know there are some butcher shops in central Kentucky that will rip you off, that was not my experience here. Sausage is the best I have ever eaten, chops are as large as steaks! If you live within a few hours of this place and have something you want processed I highly recommend these guys.
Good selection of meats. Some other items our sold here like frozen apetizers. They also had lamb, elk, bison, and Venison. They had the elusive hanger steaks too. The prices on chicken and pork was awesome the beef was priced well too.
The new owners have it cleaned up, remodeled and provide excellent customer service. They processed my fiancé’s deer this year. It was ready for us to pick up earlier than expected and the jerky was the best I’ve ever eaten. Everything else we have purchased has been better than the Butcher shop in Bardstown. This is definitely the new go to place for my family
Got a wild hog out of state and brought it home. They converted the pork bellies to bacon and sliced up the hams for me. (After they completed all of their commercial work, of course. Can't mix the two.) They were friendly and professional on the phone and in person. I will use them again in the future.
They are always super nice. Great choice of meats and prices. Love the quality of the meats. Best place to buy meats.
Worst experience we have ever had with a butcher. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Employee was cussing at me on the phone and the owner did nothing about it. Got cuts of meat that were never requested. Will never do business with …
We had our beef processed in August. They did an excellent job. Very professional and honest people to do business with. We will definitely be using them again in the spring.
This was the first time that I used this butcher shop. I got a higher meat to waste ratio than the others I've used. The meat was well packaged and looks great. The staff were friendly and helpful. I couldn't be happier, and will return.
Recommend Highly! Great service and selection. Right now It helps to know exactly what you want as the store is still growing and doesn't have display yet. Which is coming, and when it does it will only …
Great people! Their meats are good prices, I took two Deer down there told them how I wanted them and they did exactly what I asked for! Will be back for more.

Referred our customers to come here due to our past experience and what a mistake that was. Our customers are very dissatisfied due to the amount of meat they received after it was processed. Same weight we had taken to other processors …
Very rude owner. No custumer service. Cussed over the phone and refused to work with me at all. Had an appointment to drop a beef off for over six months and had always dropped the cow off the night before. Told me he couldn't secure his …
