Hollister Hill Farm is a family-run farm in Marshfield, Vermont, that focuses on organic farming and offers a variety of products including organic produce, dairy, and homemade treats. Established in 1825, the farm emphasizes sustainable practices and animal welfare while providing a charming farm experience for visitors. The farm also features a vibrant wildflower garden and is known for its maple syrup production.
Great place to get a feel for farming life. Friendly hosts, great cooking mostly using ingredients grown on the farm, and a very lovely house that has the feel of a rustic home, but is not falling apart and has a pinch of modern needs. The barn has a wide variety of farm animals to interact with and Bob even let me help with some of the farm work.
Neil & Catherine are very welcoming and hospitable people that run a great gem outside of Montpelier. During the recent Vermont floods they put us up as we were stranded in the area. We are very grateful for their kindness as we were destined to sleep on the side of the road and they took us in and fed us! The world needs more people like them. Situated amidst the picturesque hills and breathtaking countryside, their farm is an enchanting destination. A visit to this charming locale offers an opportunity to interact with the delightful animals and indulge in exceptional products they have to offer. Our heartfelt gratitude once again for their generosity and the memorable experience they provided.
I highly recommend staying with Neil and Catherine and enjoying a little slice of their paradise! We dropped in unexpectedly during the flooding in July and Neil and Catherine went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Beautiful farm, great value store, and delicious breakfast. Thank you!
Wow, we lucked out by choosing this place. Quiet, beautiful, wonderful house, terrific hosts, and breakfast made with farm fresh ingredients: milk, eggs, maple syrup, probably even the bacon was from the farm. Guests are also encouraged to take a long walk in the woods (a big loop trail is probably 4 miles) with their well behaved golden retrievers. Our hosts were wonderful, too. I didn't give facilities an excellent rating only because this is a farmhouse, not a 4-star hotel. But you will be happy. We stayed in the non-traditional addition in the back (was a granny unit) and were very happy to have the additional space. For return trips to Vermont we will stay here - no need to look further.
We have made a Fall visit to the Hollisters an annual tradition, four years running now. I can't praise it enough. They are warm and welcoming, always glad to show people around their wonderful farm and animals. And a good old fashioned country breakfast. It's worth the trip itself. Leigh and Bob are wonderful. We usually rent the "Little House" which is an attached unit. Very family friendly too; my wife and I have come with our 3-now 7-year old daughter, who has made best friends with the barn cats and loves feeding apples to the pigs.
Just left another great visit. We've been coming for over 10 years. Beautiful location on a working farm, Bob and Leigh are warm, thoughtful hosts and our room was amazing. Great breakfasts from locally (VERY locally....like right outside) sourced ingredients.
Love at first sight! We have been staying at Hollister Hill Farm B&B every year since 2000. Make an annual pilgrimage each autumn for the fantastic Vermont foliage and even better hospitality from Lee and Bob, owners of HHF. We've even been known to make an extra visit in the summer! Lee, Bob and their farm helpers work in perfect harmony with nature and their livestock is treated with love, care and respect. Anyone wanting to see what "real farming" is like should definitely book several days at HHF. Be sure to take in Lee's vegetable and fruit gardens and if you are there during maple syrup season you'll see, first-hand, how much hard work goes into every drop of their delicious syrup. Lee's breakfast alone is worth the trip; every meal comes from their own livestock and gardens. There is much to do on the farm and visiting surrounding towns, museums, farmer's market, corn maizes and purchasing beautiful handmade clothing and jewelry from local artisans. Oh, yes, and we take several coolers to purchase our meats directly from them. We've even come home with kittens from the barn, and they often have adorable golden retriever puppies for sale. Our only hesitation in giving the highest recommendation is that we may find ourselves unable to get a booking once everyone discovers this hidden treasure in the Vermont hills. Best place on Earth!
Our wedding party loved this home, the comfy beds, sauna, friendly farm animals and the big healthy Vermont breakfasts prepaired by the farmers wife, the lady of Hollister House. It was a real treat, low stress, Unforgettable. We shall return to buy meat milk poultry and to stay again!
Most perfect little farm I have ever had the pleasure of visiting! A must-see!! Whether you need raw milk and\or what I call 'happy meat' (meat raised humanly\non-industrial) or award winning syrup and fresh veggies depending on the season; their home is a beautiful bed and breakfast that would serve as a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle most of us live daily. Make it a point to visit the farmer and his wife. Maybe you'll get lucky and be greated by a litter of the precious barn kittens alive! #love #stopandsmelltheroses #bedandbreakfast #vermont #farmlife
