We didn’t want it to come to this. We’ve been happy customers of Highland Meadows for about 8 years. In August ’25 we stocked up on ground beef at the Ashe Farmers Market; 6lbs at $9/lb. We used 1lb for burgers a few days later and found it littered with ground bone chips. We weren’t sure what it was at first until my wife hurt a tooth. (Dentist & specialist about $375.) We threw away what remained of that meat and don’t intend to eat the other 5 lbs. We went back to the market to let them know what happened and didn’t find them there. We’ve since left 4-5 voicemail messages and had no response. Not looking for anything other than the cost of the meat we haven’t used and will gladly return. But certainly not having a typical Ashe County kind of experience with this. During this time, we also noticed that the meat we purchased in 8/95 had been packaged in 10/24. Still safe, per the USDA, but not the best quality after 4 months. Very disappointed.
