Groff's Content Farm

I buy from this place from my neighborhood farmer's market. I basically always buy the chicken, I think once I got turkey. Regardless, I have always been very happy. Of course it is *slightly pricier* but it is entirely reasonable. You gotta take into account the cost of gas for them to come out here, what they are paying for in order to have a posted vendor stand, and that they aren't jamming hundreds of animals into little enclosures giving them trash feed. My boyfriend makes fun of me for saying this, but I stand by, "You can taste when an animal was miserable." I'm no vegetarian, but it does matter to me that the animal was given an adequate life, and had a chance to be itself. I just wanted a pound of turkey wings, the guy only had a bit over two pounds as the least amount which was too much for me. But glad to give them the business and look forward to buying from them again

We have been buying products from Groff's for over 4 years now. Always extremely satisfied with all their meats, eggs, poultry, and prepared dishes. We have had several fresh turkeys for Thanksgiving dinners. They were all juicy, tender, and so delicious; everyone raved about the meat. The pork sausages are sugar free with clean ingredients, and the lamb and goat sausage are outstanding. The poultry and beef are so flavorful and always tender. The in-house, chef prepared cooked dishes, like beef lasagna, shepherd's pie, enchiladas, etc., are so convenient and delectable. Julie and Bob and their team are always helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We admire their dedicator and their rotation grazing farming values and ethics.

Since I work in food, I'm always interested in 1) how food tastes, 2) its community social & economic impact, and 3) its environmental impact. We love getting all 3 from Groff's Content. When our dinner guests drool over "wow, this chicken is amazing," I have to confess to them that Bob and Julie did most of the work. They were also kind enough to let us personally visit Groff's Content farm, so we got to observe the rotational grazing systems and chickens wandering the pasture, and meet more of their amazing team working with the land and animals. So grateful they are a part of the food community in the DMV and beyond. *And yum!

I met Bob at the Riverdale Farmers Market & purchase from Groff's Content Farm regularly. A few weeks ago, I purchased pork chops - WOW! I was so impressed with the quality of the cut - it stayed juicy even though I made the mistake of slightly overcooking it (oops!). When I spoke with Bob about it the next week, I remarked about how it is possible to taste in a meat when the animal has been able to live a comfortable life versus when they've been treated poorly at a mass-production facility. I care about the climate crisis and about human's place in the ecosystem/food web; I believe that when we eat locally sourced meats that are raised with care and the ability to enjoy their life, we in turn get healthier and happier bodies & we move with better balance with the broader climate and nutrient systems. It is clear that Bob and Julie treat their livestock with care - it shines through in the meals I've enjoyed. I highly recommend sourcing your meat from Groff's Content Farm - keep up the work, y'all! Thank you!

Lovely people who really care about raising and harvesting their animals humanely. Their meat is wonderful, and their care shines through in that quality. Their prepared foods, sausages and eggs are fantastic too. Find them at Eastern Market each Tuesday afternoon, as long as the Farmers' Market is open.

Never knew an egg I didn't like. Then I tried Groffs and I love those eggs. I can't wait to try their meats

They have such a large variety of products. Everything is fresh and organic. Owners are super nice. They also, make deliveries to those who don't drive.

Great food sold here everything is organic and free range pigs cows chickens eggs duck for Christmas and Turkeys for Thanksgiving

I bought the ground beef at the Bloomingdale farmers market! !!!so Delicious!

Great place. There meat, cheeses and eggs are the best.
