Literally, without any hyperbole, the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Get there before 4pm and get the best! Everything else is also excellent. Fantastic meats at prices better than the chain stores, for much better quality! The sandwiches though... The absolute best. Ever. Period. The end.
This place was AMAZING! My friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat lunch on the 4th of July and we stumbled into Fat Butcher. We were not disappointed. As a Philly native, this is the best cheesesteak I’ve had in Pittsburgh so far! The service was great and we did not have to wait long at all. I will be telling my whole family and all my friends about this place for sure! (And I will be gifting some fresh meat to family from here for sure)
Fat Butcher sells beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and other foods from local farms. I shopped here one time. I had much difficulty with finding a parking spot in the neighborhood. Inside the store, employees provided polite service. The selection of meats was not as large as I had expected, but I bought some beef. At home it was juicy and flavorful.
Lawrenceville is lucky to have another great shop. The owners and employees at Fat Butcher are both knowledgeable and kind. I don’t know much about meat and this is a place where they will openly share their knowledge without being the least bit pretentious. The shop itself is clean, well organized, accessible and welcoming. Their pricing was also a lot more reasonable than anticipated, especially for the quality. And don’t let the name throw you - there are plenty of other products even if meat isn’t your thing. From gourmet condiments to house-made sides, broths, etc. And of course drinks and cheese.
Hands down the best butcher in the city. The staff is extremely knowledge and very helpful. The quality of the meat here is on a different level. They offer a variety of meats including dry aged beef. I’ve gotten several custom orders and …
We get all our steak here and it absolutely never disappoints. The staff is always so helpful selecting the right cut for what we’re making and they’ve helped us find new cuts we hadn’t heard of before.
Went to fat butcher today to grab some ground beef and breakfast sausage. Made some smash burgers with the 28 day aged ground beef it was fantastic. Looking forward to the breakfast sandwich in the morning! Everyone here is helpful, the meats are fresh, packed well, and it’s clean.
Quality is top-notch. Pricey, but it's a good value as you're getting what you pay for. People nowadays tend to overstate the quality of "boutique" type places - Not the case here. Its the real deal.
This place is solid. My husband and I have (so far) ordered bone-in ribeyes and bone-in pork chops. Both just amazing! Hands down, the best meat we’ve eaten. There’s no need to even go to a steakhouse. :) And the knowledge of the employees …
Roast beef sandwich was terrible- beef was tough. Italian beef- go to Chicago to get a real one- this one not even close. Not impressed. Expected better- only ate the meat off the Italian beef - trashed the rest.
