I have been looking for a quality butcher shop since I moved to Minneapolis. This is the one. Great selection and quality, beef sticks are incredible, and the staff is friendly. Happy to support this establishment and will be a returning customer for the foreseeable future.

LOCAL NEWS 96-year-old butcher not only has a fine collection of meats, but treasured memories as well For almost 70 years, Jack Pflepsen has been hard at work. Author: Samie Solina Published: June 5, 2025 At Everett’s Food and Meats, the aroma of fresh sausage and smoked brats fills the air, and the man behind it all is still hard at work—at 96 years old. Jack Pflepsen, owner of the beloved south Minneapolis butcher shop, can still be found lifting 25-pound prime ribs and greeting customers by name, just as he has since he bought the business in 1956. “This is how we do the sausage, wieners and brats,” Pfeilpsen said, demonstrating his well-practiced technique. “It sticks in your head, you just don’t forget it.” Pflepsen’s memory is legendary among his customers and family alike. “He remembers everything about them,” said Jane McCormick, one of his four daughters. “I just talked to a customer who said he remembered when their daughter was born, because it was about the same time his granddaughter was born.” Mary Nelson, a customer for five decades, agrees. Pflepsen was talking with her on Thursday, the day his daughters told customers to come in and wish him a happy birthday. "I’ve waited on a lot of people, all wonderful, and they all come back," Pflepsen told Nelson. "Because of you! You’re the wonderfulest!” Nelsongiggled.. Pflepsen still works three days a week, insisting, “It’s my job. Keeps me young.” His friendly demeanor and sharp memory have made him a local legend. “He doesn’t forget a face and recognizes you no matter how long it’s been,” said another longtime customer. Family is central to Pflepsen's story. After returning from service in the Korean War, he bought Everett’s and worked alongside his brothers—except one. “My other younger brother, Jimmy. He died in the Korean War… 26, a Marine. Yeah, never forgot that. Never forget it,” Pfeilpsen said. His daughters recall growing up in the shop, with McCormick joking, “We were also the only kids in the neighborhood whose dad rode his rider lawn mower with his butcher cap on, because he would forget.” On his 96th birthday, customers and family gathered to celebrate the man who has served generations. From family to customers, Pfeilpsen’s life is rich with memories. “You’ve helped me many, many, many times,” said one customer, as Pfeilpsen replied, “Love you guys. Love you.”

I love shopping here, recently I've been noticing more gluten free products and this makes my household extremely happy. I highly recommend buying your meat here, they do offer primal cuts as well.

Love this place. Drive past the neighborhood meat market to buy from Everett's. Polish, brats, house made luncheon meats are all winners. Fresh meats are great quality. Hot grab and go food is great as well. Nothing beats the beef sticks, especially the ghost pepper sticks.

Fantastic staff that really know their cuts of meat and how to prepare them, super friendly and patient. Great fresh produce too! Feels like the first time I’ve been able to find an avocado that will be edible that day without being mushy or brown in months. Will be back again and again

I live in a different city, but go out of my way to shop here a few times a month. Their porketta is perfect!

My favorite butcher shop/market in the area. They have a wide selection of meats and also anything you'd want (fresh, frozen, pantry) available. I especially like that they carry frozen tamales and sambusas

Everett's is a wonderful store. We just came in to get a steak for our dog who sadly is being put down tomorrow, and they very kindly gave us a discount on it. You don't see that level of kindness at big chain stores. Thank you, Everett's, for helping make our dog's last day the best day he's ever had.

They have smoked meats there that if you don't get there at the right time there's not a lot to choose from. All in all very delicious though.
