Diamond H Ranch

We visited the Diamond H earlier this month to look at some bred cows for sale. Mr. Todd & Mrs. Karra Hill were gracious hosts & gave us a tour of their lovely ranch. Their Braunvieh cattle are some of the finest genetics in my opinion. Todd asked us what we were looking for in our program & then helped us pick out exactly what we asked for. He was very honest & explained why or why not he was recommending or not recommending a certain cow. I think we picked out 3 great cows & are excited for their calves to hit the ground this fall. When we are ready to add new genetics to our herd the Diamond H is where we will start looking! Great cows, great Texas scenery & even better people.

Diamond H Ranch, Childress, TX: We are extremely satisfied with Diamond H Ranch in Childress, TX. The owner, Todd, is friendly, honest, and knowledgeable about his herd. He keeps up to date and accurate records, which he will convey to the buyer. He has also been available to us after the sale, to answer and clarify questions. We bought our first bred cow from Diamond H. Once we saw the healthy bull she threw, we went back for 4 more bred heifers and 3 young steer. These quality cows are well cared for, in great condition, with a gentle disposition. We will continue to build our herd with the stock from Diamond

Drove up to Childress, Tx all the way from Castroville, Tx to pick up a bull and heifer that Todd Hill was kind enough to pasture for me through the winter for a small fee. The closer I got up to the ranch the more obvious it was that this part of Texas hasn’t seen much rain, and even though conditions seemed to be pretty dry and harsh, I was very impressed with the quality and the condition of all of the Diamond H cattle. It is obvious that Todd Hill is doing something right with the genetics of his cattle for them to be thriving in what most people outside of northwest Texas would probably consider pretty tough conditions for cattle ranching. Very excited with my bull and heifer purchase and can’t wait to see what kind of replacement heifers I’ll get next year! When I first decided to purchase a bull from the Diamond H Ranch I thought I was paying a premium for one of Todd Hill’s performance tested bulls, but after talking with neighbors and other ranchers in my area about bull prices I feel like I got a great deal because I know exactly what my bull is capable of doing through the testing that has been conducted on him. I’ve got friends who are paying a certain dollar amount for bulls that are untested and no one has any idea what they’re capable of doing, so I feel like I’m getting a great deal with my bull purchase from the Diamond H Ranch. Lastly, I would like to comment on Todd and Kara Hill. They are salt of the Earth kind of people who are passionate about their livestock and the cattle industry in general. After visiting with Todd Hill for just a few minutes it is very apparent that he loves talking about livestock and is passionate about his genetic program.
