Carniceria Coalcoman is an authentic Mexican restaurant and grocery store located in Boise, offering a variety of traditional Mexican dishes and fresh meats. The business serves food such as tacos, burritos, and enchiladas, while also providing a butcher section with quality meats for customers to purchase. Posole was salty. Adovada didn't have that great of flavor and it was too chunky for my tacos. Galdo de Res didn't have much vegetables to it. Service was great though.
I had the menudo and a couple of tacos—the food was pretty good! The place gets pretty packed, especially on weekends. Since it's not a large space, you might end up sharing a table with other people. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
Very good for their price point. The service was fast. The tamal was very well shaped and the right amount of masa. The carnitas tacos was very very good. The rice and refried beans was tasty but the beans was a bit watery. Over all I would recommend this place to eat at. PS they also have a market with a butchers area.
Finally tried this place for the first time today. Wish we hadn't waited do long. Everything was so good. There was a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected when you're serving awesome food! They were pretty packed, but it was well worth the wait. Will definitely be back especially since we luckily only live a few minutes away.
Best in town!!! Hands down the closest thing to authentic this side of the border!! Food is top notch, the employees are always smilling and very polite. Will always recommend to people wanting good quality mexican food. Thanks for being here!!!
Authentic (you can get tripe/intestine, lengua/tongue, cabeza/head, etc. as well as your more familiar meats) and delicious! I've been here a few times and even tried to bring my parents during a visit (they happen to be closed on Wednesdays...bummer!). Last time, I got the al pastor burrito. Unfortunately the meat was dry, but as I've had their food before I know it's not always like that. They are really helpful and service oriented. It has a Mexican store connected to it and they sell Mexican treats, breads, and drinks at the counter where you order your food. They also have a salsa bar. So good! The salsas are spicy--which I like--just be aware if you can't handle much heat. They're located in a little strip mall so there's parking, but it can be pretty full at meal times (a good sign the food is good!)
Picked up a few pounds of pre marinated carne asada to cook at home. The meat was excellent. They also have a small restaurant or you can take it to go. Highly recommend if you're looking for really good authentic Mexican food.
This is an excellent and authentic taqueria that's located in a modest strip mall. I thought the food was great! I had a mix of different tacos- carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas- and they were all delicious. My friend said his burrito was very good. The prices were appropriate and affordable. There are a variety of salsas and other condiments that were very tasty. The service was friendly, and they have a bunch of different drinks that you take yourself from fridges. There is a small store with fresh Mexican products and a carniceria attached to the restaurant. If you want good Mexican food in Boise, this is the correct choice.
Super nondescript little authentic Mexican store with a kitchen, hiding in a run down strip mall… and we LOVED it!! Carne Asada Burritos were awesome, rice full of flavor. Loved the spicy pico as well from the salsa bar. What a hidden gem.
Listen, I've hit many Mexican joints, especially trucks over the years, from San Diego to Seattle. Bay area to Boston. This place is legit. Dead give away, Mexican groceries are part of the business. And, lots of Spanish in the room at lunchtime. Location. Typical off street lower level strip mall. Low rent type of location. Parking can be challenging Ambiance. Low key. Nothing special. Mom and pop. Sometimes less than clean looking. Food. I started with their version of a quesadilla. Yes I said quesadilla. It's not typical. In fact, when I came I asked the recommendation and they said that. I shied away until they described it. It is the bomb. It is not American style Quesadilla. In fact, it's not with cheese or just very little. Shhhuuuuu. Just order it and eat. Bottom line, everything I've tried is excellent, start with the quesadilla. And again, don't think American style. Bottom line would I come back? Indeed. I'm riding this review and this is my 4th or 5th time. There you go. Enjoy!!
Very friendly staff and good selection of products. I have also tried their food including an al pastor torta , a taco de tripa and …
The food was so good , they have a self serve bar for your tacos . Thats why you can add what you like on your tacos. They have plenty of Mexican spices and foods. Also they have a carnicera. One of my top favorite place to get tacos at.
One of the ONLY authentic Mexican restaurants in Boise. They have a shop attached with genuine amenities and imports. Looks to be a family business. Definitely DO NOT miss the pre-prepared foods case further inside. Prices and portions …
Likely the most authentic Mexican food in Boise. I had the red sauce chicken enchiladas and it was 10/10.
Alberto, is a great butcher! The meat here is amazing freshly cut always lean and delicious. If you are looking for a super traditional Mexican restaurant this is the place. Mexican food from the state of Michoacan in a carneceria type …
I had their carnitas, cabeza and chorizo tacos. All were delicious.
I hate sharing my secret spots because they are killer and often less known. But… I picked up Uber eats for a customer last week and came in to grab the food.have to share this one. I vowed to come back in for myself soon. …
great tacos. a little hard to find. great options in the salsa bar. the torta's are very good. …
I would rather do no stars. Take out took over 30minutes and my order was wrong, they shorted me an entire plate. Beans were water and rice was undercooked. Wont ever be going to this dirty place.
I stumbled on this place a couple of days ago and just had to try it. Wow! Great authentic Mexican food and grocery. I tried the carnitas and birria tacos, and they were perfect. Their toppings bar was excellent with fresh onions, radishes, cilantro, pico, and salsas.
